What LLM Status is
Modern software increasingly depends on AI models — and those models change fast. Providers deprecate versions, retire endpoints, and sunset older snapshots on timelines that are easy to miss. When a model your app calls disappears, the result is broken features, failed requests, and unplanned migrations under pressure.
LLM Status is a service that keeps a live inventory of the AI models your applications rely on and matches them against a continuously maintained registry of model lifecycle information. When a model you use is headed for deprecation or retirement, we tell you ahead of time — with enough lead time to plan and test a migration calmly, instead of reacting to an outage.
The problem we solve
Most teams don't actually know every model their codebase and infrastructure touch. Model names are scattered across application code, environment variables, config files, and background jobs, and they accumulate over time. There's rarely a single source of truth.
That means the first sign of a deprecation is often a production incident. LLM Status closes that gap: we help you see what you depend on, and we give you advance warning before any of it goes away.
Who it's for
LLM Status is built for software developers and engineering teams who ship products on top of AI models and want to stay ahead of breaking changes.
- Individual developers and indie hackers who want a simple safety net for their projects.
- Engineering teams who need a shared, accurate view of which models their services depend on.
- Anyone responsible for keeping AI-powered features reliable as providers evolve their model lineups.
How it works
LLM Status combines three pieces — discovery, a lifecycle registry, and timely alerts — so you always know what you depend on and what's about to change.
- Scan: Our command-line tool scans your code and infrastructure to build an inventory of which AI models you actually use, so you don't have to track them by hand.
- Track: A live registry continuously follows model lifecycle status — including deprecation and retirement timelines — and matches it against your inventory.
- Alert: When a model you depend on is being deprecated or retired, we notify you in advance through the in-app feed, email, Slack, Discord, SMS, and webhooks.
- Migrate: With early notice and a clear picture of what's affected, you can plan and test your migration before anything breaks.
